Newsfeeds are packets of information containing headlines (or titles) and a paragraph of description. Many websites are now offering these feeds as a way for users to keep current with any news or information on their site, without the users having to continually visit each website in their list.
Newsfeeds are ideally suited to websites that deal with news: national, international, sports, and so forth; but are also good for conveying other kinds of information, such as software reviews and postings, hardware reviews and tests, shopping sales, and blog posts (blogs are like daily diaries posted publicly on the Internet).
Although there are stand-alone programs that can be used to save and read through lists of favorite newsfeeds, modern browsers (such as Mozilla Firefox) and email clients (such as Mozilla Thunderbird) have built-in support for handing newsfeeds.
For your convenience and browsing pleasure, I have gathered together a sampling of some of the computer-related newsfeeds here. You can select them by choosing a category from the sub-menu, and then picking a feed source from the list that appears. These are freshly updated every time you view them, so the information will always be current.
