Volume Control

The Volume control Tray Icon in Windows XP did not work properly for me. Quite often it failed to appear in the Taskbar, even though I had selected it to appear there in the Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices properties dialog. I played around with passing different parameters on the command-line to SndVol32.exe, and eventually ended up locking the Mixer in small mode, where the Advanced buttons no longer appeared.

With the help of an Internet friend I was able to get the mixer out of small mode (the solution is to edit a registry setting...apparently that it gets stuck in small mode is a Windows bug).

I wrote my own Tray Icon replacement for the Volume control that does exactly the same thing as the Windows XP version, but also includes all the various Mixer options that are accessible via the registry or on the command-line.

Simply place the executable in your StartUp directory. Source code is included. For some reason I couldn't get the tray icon to look as nice even though I pulled it from a screen shot...perhaps Delphi 6 doesn't support true color icons?
